Athletes for Autism’s (A4A) fitness campaign is designed to offer fitness opportunities to children, adults and families affected by autism.
Many people are missing structured physical activity from their daily routine because they have fallen into the habit of spending the bulk of their free time playing video games, watching tv or on computers. Many schools have also had to eliminate gym classes due to budget cuts. This has led to an epidemic of weight related problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure for all age groups.
People in the autism community can benefit greatly from incorporating a fitness routine. Improvements in sleep regulation, digestion, coping skills, avoiding depression and better overall health are just a few of the many reasons to get and stay active. A4A has partnered with one of Wisconsin’s largest state of the art fitness centers to offer an opportunity for regular exercise for autistic people and their loved ones.
